Seeing RED

That happy feeling I had after watching Narnia tonight has completely left by body.

It's been replaced with something very bad.

I was just brusing my hair before going to bed - I took a hand mirror and looked at the back and it looked like complete shit. Sounds flaky, but let me elaborate:

I had my hair colored and cut today - I decided to abandon the blonde highlights and go back to the nice red I've had for the last 15 or so years. I also was in desperate need of a haircut - it's been quite awhile since my last cut and my hair was starting to get so long it was strangling me in my sleep! So I get into the salon and tell my stylist (of about 12 years) I need at least 3-4 inches cut off. She said she'd do a "rough cut" before the color. No biggie, I've had it done before, no sense wasting the extra color product on hair that's just going to be cut off anyway. So my hair is dry, she cuts it off, then puts the color on.

After getting shampooed, I go back to her chair, where she combs me out, puts product in, dries it, then runs a straightening iron through it. The color came out a little darker than I'd like, but I'm very familiar with the fading pattern of red color - I know it'll be absolutely great in a couple of days. It didn't even dawn on me at the time.

Do you know where I'm going with this?

I bought three extra products - 2 shine treatments and a conditioner (yes, I'm a hair product whore), paid $150 for the whole shebang, tipped her and left.

Here's where I'm going with this: She NEVER. FINISHED. THE. CUT.

Hence the complete disaster I saw when looking at the back of my head in the mirror tonight.

When I had this much hair cut off before, the rough cut was only to keep from using so much color. I always got a regular trim to even everything out after the color was washed out and my hair was wet. So now I have 1. hair that's probably 1/2 inch shorter on one side than the other, 2. a top layer of hair that's probably 1/2 inch shorter than the bottom layer of my hair (and I have no layers - my hair is supposed to be all one length!), 3. an inverted U shape in the middle of the back of my head, and, 4. several chunks of hair in back that were apparently never cut and are jutting 3 inches or so below the rest of my hair.

I am so pissed right now.

When I called to make the appointment last week, I asked for "a cut and color", not a "cut and root color touchup". So when I got there, she wasn't prepared to do a new all-over color for me. Given I have so much damn hair, it would take her extra long to do the whole process. Now, to me, that's why I said COLOR instead of ROOT COLOR. Apparently that's not the right lingo. So it took almost an hour just to get the color on my head. That probably screwed her schedule, and I bet she wasn't planning on me getting any more than a tiny trim in addition to the color. So that screwed her schedule even more.

My opinion? TOO FUCKING BAD.

When I made the appointment, I told them what I needed. I even told them I have long, thick hair that would take more time. I absolutely cannot believe she let me walk out of that fucking salon with the back of my head looking like this. There is no way on this earth that she couldn't have seen that, unless she was so preoccupied with getting her schedule back in order that she didn't even notice.

I even heated up my straightening iron a little while ago to make sure it didn't look screwy because the back was getting a little wavy. Nope - it is FUCKED. UP.

So now I'm so irritated I can't sleep - I don't know what hours she's in tomorrow, so I don't know when I can get this fixed. In addition to the buttload of stuff I have to do at work tomorrow, my parents are coming over for dinner after work. When on motherfucking earth am I going to be able to get this fixed? So now my schedule is completely screwed up. And I just had a most horrendous thought... for some reason I'm thinking that she doesn't work Fridays anymore. If that's the case, then I can't get this fixed until TUESDAY next week! I will motherfucking flip if that's the case, let me tell you.

Where on earth is there a stylist that will not balk at dealing with long thick hair? A stylist that will not ask me if I want to leave with my hair wet because they don't want to take the time to dry it, a stylist that will not skimp on the color application because it takes too much time (and believe me, I've had some zebra hair in my past because of it), a stylist that is not itching to cut cut cut just because I have long hair, a stylist that actually PAYS ATTENTION to the cut that's being done, a stylist that doesn't treat long, thick hair as a hinderance...

But with all the stylist woes I've faced over the years, I don't think I've ever had anything this bad. Ever.

So much for getting to bed at a decent hour - I was actually tired before I stumbled across this little discovery. Now I'm so angry I don't think sleep is going to come any time soon.
