Those Broads Just Beat Me!

Poker night this month was a scream, no pun intended.

Given it was so close to Halloween, we were told we could dress up for the game. Dave had a great costume - he actually dressed as our host! The guy who hosts our poker nights is tattooed, has a chin piercing (he called it something particular, I can't remember), a goatee, and usually wears black bowling-style shirts. So Dave got a black bowling-style shirt and magnetic earrings (even though Dave has two holes in his one ear, he needed another stud for the other ear and something to put on his chin), then on Saturday, we tattooed him up with temporary tattoos (he even shaved down some of his arm hair so they stuck good!), stuck the stud on his chin with spirit gum, and he was ready to go! Those tattoos looked great - I told him he'd have to get one.

pb.gifI, on the other hand, had no damn idea what to dress as, so I went with the poker bitch shirt - I used the logo here - I found the tribal art at istockphoto, then just added my own text. The cool thing about it was that Dave's parents got it silkscreened on a black shirt for me, so I didn't have to dick around with the t-shirt transfer sheets. Turned out looking pretty neat. I teamed that up with some black pants, a pink feathered hat and boa and went as a Poker Bitch. Yea, lame, I know, but I was clueless. In the spirit of the occasion, though, I did take my normally straight hair and put it in pin curls Friday night. Dave thought that's how I was going out - with little swirls of hair plastered to my head - but he understood once I took them out on Saturday and had nice springy curls. That's suffering for Halloween, let me tell you - trying to sleep on Friday night with bobby pins jabbing my head and ears.

When we got there Saturday, I was floored to see our host in a purple gown, blonde wig, with makeup, pearls, a pretty bracelet, and a shaved goatee!!! Wow, I thought I suffered for my costume with those damn pin curls, but dude shaved his goatee for his!! I was impressed! He looked great. His wife came down later wearing little cereal boxes with knives through them and cheerios glued to her clothes, complete with fake blood and all - she was a cereal killer! Wow, I really wasn't creative with my costume at all! One other person dressed up, he dressed as a broad, too - with denim skirt, fishnets, and a silky purple camisole with pretty big boobs. We were a motley crew, let me tell you. I have been threatened with violence if I post pictures on here, so I'll refrain.

Poker seemed quite secondary to all the costume hilarity going on, but we still had a good time. Unfortunately I didn't finish in the money - I finished fourth out of eleven people, one spot away from winning some money. Not too shabby, but the two "broads" were the ones that did me in! Dammit! I was doing well, then Dave started dealing - I should have known better - and I couldn't get anything started. I was down to my last $20 and the big blind was up at $12. I was dealt a Q-2 offsuit, it would have been $8 for me to call, and I was on the big blind next hand. So I went all-in. I wasn't expecting to win that hand, so it was no biggie, I just caught a run of bad luck. But the two "broads" called me, and fuck it if they didn't only have high card after all was said and done. Just a higher card than mine.

So that was my Halloween poker experience - no money this month, but still a damn good time!
