Spring is Here: Let the Sneezing Commence

Allergies are kicking my ass right now.

I was feeling a little tired earlier in the week, but I just chalked it up to getting little sleep and overdoing it on the weekend. I don't think that was the case.

Yesterday I bent over to pick up one of Cragar's toys and my nose turned into Niagra Falls. Bleh. My eyes have been reduced to squinty, red, burning orbs in my head, and every time I blink, my contacts either move or get some kind of sticky crud on them.

I could probably deal with the stuffiness, what I can't deal with is feeling like I could drop off to sleep at any moment. Not to mention, driving is a definite hazard with contacts that don't stay put. Many years ago, I found out that I actually get an allergic reaction to the protein that's deposited on my contacts. My doctor called it GPC - Giant Papillary Conjunctivitis. Basically, the inside of my eyelid gets these little "bumps" which 1. act like suction cups to my contacts, making them move every time I blink; and 2. make my eyes unbearably itchy, causing me to want to scratch my eyes out of my head. So, with my seasonal allergies in full swing, I think my contacts are getting more protein deposits than usual, compounding regular seasonal eye itchiness with this GPC. It really sucks. Patanol usually takes care of it, but I have none left.

I took Benadryl earlier today, but it just made me even more tired. The last time I tried Claritin, it didn't work, so I may even have to drag my sorry ass to the doctor to find something else to deal with it. I definitely have to get my grubby little mitts on some Patanol.

Spring is beautiful, but sometimes it just sucks!
